Calm seas

Calm seas. I took this picture on our family trip to the Keys back in 2003. It was an inspiring image at the time, one that has been long forgotten. I dredged it up this morning as I was scanning through pictures looking for something and was again inspired by the calm of the bay. I've tried to make myself like this picture..calm and unruffled. But life dosn't work that way. And it also dawned on me, even as I type this, that if life was THIS smooth, it would be boring! God doesn't give us glass seas to sail on because then we would never grow, would never learn to climb mountains, slide down hills, or tread water. He gives us challenges and tests to help us develop into children who are NOT flat and boring :)

Prayer for peace

Prayer for Peace: Lord I lift up my heart tonight, for every heart and soul that aches, for every mind that feels panic and despair, that you would wrap your loving arms around each of us, sinner and saved, and breathe a wisp of calming wind upon us. For we are not alone, not ever alone; and even knowing this, we often need that reminder, that you are there, always, for us to draw strength and courage from. Amen.
